French politician Georges Clemenceau was a member of Radical Party, and served in the French Senate.

After the failure of the Nivelle Offensive and the subsequent French army mutinies, Clemenceau called for the suppression of civil unrest that had supported the mutineers. President Poincaré appointed him Prime Minister of France in November 1917. He held that position through the remainder of the war and the Versailles Peace Conference.
