Based on his M.5 monoplane, Fokker introduced his synchronized machine gun machine gun that fired through the path of the rotating propeller with the E.I Eindecker (monoplane) in 1915. From April to December the Allies had no adequate response to the plane.

The plane was the weapon of choice of the early German aces Max Immelmann, Oswald Bölcke, and Wilhelm Frankl.

Approximately 300 Eindecker aircraft were produced in three versions. The E.II was a slightly larger plane powered by a 100-hp Oberursel U.I engine. The E.III carried more fuel, allowing it to fly for up to 150 minutes rather than 90. The Fokker Eindecker retained air superiority into early 1916.

Maximum speed: 134km/h/83mph; ceiling: 3,500m/11,500ft; endurance 2hr 45mins

Length: 7.3m/23ft 11in. Wingspan: 9.52m/31ft 3in.

Armament: one fixed forward firing 7.92mm LMG 08/15 machine gun

Fokker E.I is an aircraft: single-seat scout plane.
