Palestine, part of Syria, itself part of the Ottoman Empire, extending from the Sinai Peninsula along the Mediterranean coast north to the region of Lebanon. Palestine lay on the Syria/Palestine Front, and was the site of heavy fighting in 1917 and 1918.
