Austrians pile up huge stone boulders which they roll down the mountain side on Italian troops. In their Alpine warfare on the Italians, the Austrians are resorting to a trick which is almost as old as the mountains themselves. They pile up huge boulders on the very edge of the mountain slope up which the Italians must make an ascent in order to attack the Austrian positions. The Austrians have but to use the eertion of raising the small crude cradle on which these boulders are resting, to start a veritable avalanche of stone, down the mountain side in the path of the on-coming Italians. The stone avalance is as effective as shot and shell for as it sweeps down the mountain side with the force of cannon fire, number of dead and maimed Italians are left in its wae. 9/23/15
